Saint Croix River Valley Chapter, NSDAR, Welcomes You!

The women of the Saint Croix River Valley Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR or NSDAR), come from different walks of life and backgrounds. A love of genealogy, history and serving others brings us together. Most of our members live in and around Washington County, Minnesota, but we have members who live in other states and even one in another country!

About Our Chapter

Founded in 2005, the Saint Croix River Valley Chapter, NSDAR, is named for the Saint Croix River Valley in Minnesota, honoring the rich heritage of the people who lived here in the past and present. We support historic preservation, education and patriotism through various activities throughout the year.

We Promote Historic Preservation, Patriotism and Education

Our chapter supports national and state historic preservation projects as well as supports our community in the preservation of historical artifacts.

Our chapter supports national and state patriotism projects as well as supports our local veterans and hosts celebratory events such as the Fourth of July and Veterans Day.

Our chapter supports national and state education projects as well as works with our community through our projects to support education via scholarships and educational events.

We Make a Difference in Our Communities

PATRIOTISM – Saint Croix River Valley Chapter, NSDAR, participates in Wreaths Across America, whose mission is to “Remember, Honor and Teach”; carried out in part each year by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies in December at Arlington, as well as thousands of veterans’ cemeteries in all 50 states.

HISTORIC PRESERVATION – Twice a year we clean up headstones and the surrounding areas in two historic cemeteries which have graves dating back to the Civil War.

EDUCATION – Every year, in September, we participate in Constitution Week activities to educate people about our Constitution. We put displays in the Stillwater, Mahtomedi, Forest Lake and Lake Elmo Libraries. We also provide Constitution Day kits to children in local schools.

Become a Member of DAR

Today’s Daughters of the American Revolution is a vibrant service organization for women over the age of 18 who can prove lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolutionary War. In October 2019, DAR surpassed one million women who have joined the DAR since its founding in 1890. By subscribing to the DAR Today podcast, you can learn more about members’ activities, patriot histories, current topics and more.

Minnesota Daughters come from all over our great state and beyond. They are young women who join to honor a family member, older women who enjoy genealogical research in their retirement years, professional women interested in connecting with other women in the community where they live and others. Whatever your reason for joining, we invite you to connect, encourage you to apply and welcome you to our organization.
